Monoslope Trusses — Blackwater Truss Systems
Monoslope Trusses from Blackwater Truss Systems provide a clean, modern roofline and excellent versatility for a wide range of building types. Designed with a single continuous slope and overhang on both sides, monoslope trusses are ideal for both functional and architectural applications where efficient drainage, contemporary appearance, and strong structural performance are desired.
*Please note: This truss type is meant to be used as a stand alone structure ONLY. This truss is NOT meant to be used as an addition to a new or existing structure.*
This truss features overhang on the low side of the truss AND on the high side of the truss.
Built for Strength and Architectural Appeal
Monoslope trusses combine the simplicity of a lean-to with the balanced coverage and structural advantages of a gable, resulting in a single-slope roof system that extends past the building line on both sides. This makes them an excellent option for open shelters, equipment buildings, commercial spaces, and residential structures with a more modern design aesthetic.
All monoslope trusses are prefabricated in our facility to precise engineering specifications, ensuring consistent quality and fast installation on site. Trusses are typically spaced 8 to 12 feet apart, depending on the design and local code requirements, which helps minimize material usage while maintaining structural integrity.
Standard Design Features
- Material: Available in 1.5" or 2" square tubing, with various thickness options available depending on span and engineering requirements.
- Pitch: Standard 1.5/12 roof pitch (custom pitches available).
- Spans: Offered in a variety of standard and custom widths to fit different building layouts.
- Coating: Supplied with a durable primer coating for corrosion protection and easy finishing.
- Inside Measurement (ISM): ISM is calculated the same way as gable trusses — 11 inches less than the nominal span (e.g., a 40’ monoslope truss has an ISM of 39’1”). This measurement ensures the truss fits between posts, not over them, for a clean structural connection.
Customization Options
Monoslope trusses can be fully customized to meet your project’s specific needs. Our team can adjust pitch, span, inside measurements, tubing size, and wall thickness to ensure the structure meets both functional and aesthetic goals.
Important: Customization is not included in the listed price. Any modifications from the standard design will require a custom quote prior to ordering. The price shown is for our standard pitch and measurement only. If you need a custom truss quote, please contact us.

We pay attention to the details too! Right down to our patented purlin cups.
*Please note* all of our gable steel trusses are fabricated standard at a 4/12 pitch, and our monoslope steel trusses are fabricated standard at a 1.5/12 pitch. Any other pitch is considered custom.
Please look at our inside measurement chart to ensure you are selecting the correct size to fit your needs. Our web depths on 1.5" square-tube steel trusses are 16"; and 2" square-tube steel trusses have a 24" web depth.
*center bolts are included with all gable trusses; however, carriage bolt kits are not included with trusses. If you need carriage bolts along with your truss order, they may be added here. (you will need one set of carriage bolts per truss.)
